Artist talk: Athar Jaber

Barjeel Art Foundation founder and noted cultural commentator Sultan Sooud Al Qassemi talks with Athar Jaber about the artist’s practice, life, and thoughts. Athar Jaber’s first solo show at Ayyam Gallery, titled Vestiges, is midway through its run (to 1 April); building on the classical notion of the mind trapped within the body, Athar’s interesting exhibition uses the body as a metaphor for socio-political dynamics – the human form becomes a means to address power dynamics, social structures, and the human condition.
