The Things She Carries

18 March 2025
Free

What does a woman carry, literally and metaphorically? Is it the weight of expectations, the symbols of tradition, or the aspirations she dares to chase?

This evolving art installation, conceptualised by author Purva Grover and art curator Bhairavi Mistry in celebration of International Women’s Day, foregrounds such questions; visitors are invited to contribute objects that symbolise the expectations society places on women – “heels, lipstick, a baby bottle, a pan, a measuring tape, a laptop case, post-its, a laundry basket, an apron, a vacuum cleaner attachment, a planner, dumbbells, sewing kit, a stack of fashion magazines, engagement ring box, yoga mat, makeup wipes, certificates, cleaning gloves, and more” …

Running alongside is SHE CANVAS, a more conventional exhibition of 22 artworks curated by Mistry. Featured artists:
