Marilina Marchica and Salmah Almansoori: Traces of Home

An exhibition that brings together works by the Italian artist Marilina Marchica and Emirati artist Salmah Almansoori that are rooted in the landscapes respectively of Sicily and Ghayathi.

Marchica traces the imprints of abandoned buildings and domestic spaces through drawing, collage and painting, using materials such as earth, charcoal and mineral pigments. Almansoori draws on her personal archive of Ghayathi, transforming photographs and collected materials, including palm fibres and desert grasses, into new works. Between them they explore how art can preserve the memories and histories held by a place, and how a sense of belonging endures through change …

To 29 November. The exhibition is curated by Maria Firetti and organised by Firetti Contemporary in collaboration with the Italian Cultural Institute in Abu Dhabi.
