Mariana Oushiro: The Higher We Soar

This solo exhibition by the Japanese-Brazilian artist marks the culmination of her V-Residency programme at Volery, during which Oushiro has developed a new body of work that (according the gallery) “pushes the boundaries of abstraction, inviting the viewer into a dynamic exploration of movement, perception, and spatial depth”.

Oushiro’s practice is characterised by bold strokes of colour and geometric forms, drawing from the expressive vibrancy of Brazilian art and the precision of Japanese aesthetics. The Higher We Soar is “an invitation to experience abstraction as a visceral, multi-sensory language—one that speaks to both the intellect and intuition, navigating the space between rigour and release, stillness and motion”.
