Juma Alhaj: Revelation

The first institutional solo exhibition by Emirati artist Juma Alhaj is the culmination of his participation in 421 Arts Campus’ Artistic Development Program. Grounded in reading, journaling, and philosophical inquiry, it explores themes of reflection, solitude, and self-discovery; the exhibition marks “a significant and ambitious evolution in his practice” according to the gallery, expanding beyond painting into installation for the first time.

Visitors experience it barefoot (the space is carpeted); throughout the exhibition, Alhaj’s abstract inscriptions, encompassing both writing and image, extend across glass, fabric, light, and architecture – “shifting with the environment and the movement of visitors through the exhibition”.
