Ghizlane Agzenaï: Kaleidoscope

The Moroccan artist’s debut Middle East exhibition is described by the gallery as “a milestone event that offers a unique opportunity to experience Agzenaï’s vibrant and dynamic art in person”. On show is a collection of Agzenaï’s signature totems and geometric abstractions, crafted to blur the boundaries of reality blur – “every line, angle, and hue in Agzenaï’s work serves as a gateway to a deeper understanding of the self and the world around us”. Hyperbole aside, her colourful assemblies of geometrical areas and abstract lines owes something to street art, something to postmodern abstraction, maybe even something to Bridget Riley; they’re bold, outspoken, entertaining works. Recommended.
