CLOSING TODAY Bernar Venet: Sculptures, Furniture and Works on Paper

31 October 2026 · Free
Waddington Custot · Dubai

A survey of works by the French artist, “one of the most restless practitioners of his generation” as the gallery has it. Since the early 1960s Venet unusually broad range of media has included tar poured on to canvas and cardboard, a heap of industrial coal claimed as sculpture, paintings and drawings built from mathematical equations and scientific diagrams, sound recordings, photography, performance, poetry and stage design – and, from the 1980s onward, the Corten steel Arcs, Angles and Indeterminate Lines for which he is now best known. This exhibition includes examples of three of those: sculptures in steel are shown alongside Venet’s furniture, which translates the geometry of the sculptures into functional form, and a group of works on paper that trace the conceptual logic running beneath it all.
