CLOSING TODAY Artist’s Room: Lulua Alyahya

Marking her first solo exhibition in the UAE, Lulua Alyahya’s Artist’s Room brings together new commissions, loans and works from the Art Jameel Collection. Through her paintings, Alyahya explores culturally embedded archetypes with tenderness, humour and a critical inflection, often engaging with representations of masculinity set against the natural and built environments of the Gulf; working on an intimate scale, her layered, gestural brushstrokes suggest a process of continual revision that contributes to the atmosphere and surreal quality of her paintings.
