Charity Improvathon

Twelve hours of non-stop improv to raise money for the Gulf for Good Citizen’s Foundation campaign to provide quality education for 180 children in a rural village in Pakistan. There are performances of the Courtyard’s regular improv sessions and free improv/acting workshops, both running throughput the day – kids first, adults later in the afternoon and into the evening.

Everything is free, but donations are of course welcome (and indeed expected). You’re advised to pre-register ; the Courtyard’s rep for improv (and for audience laughs) should mean it’s packed out.

Workshops:

11am – 11.45am Musical Theatre (7-8 yrs)

12.15pm – 1pm Musical Theatre (9-11 yrs)

1.30pm – 2.15pm Musical Theatre (12-14 yrs)

2.45pm – 3.30pm Public Speaking (9+ yrs)

4pm – 4.45pm Drama (4-7 yrs)

5.15pm – 6pm FitProv (whole family)

6.15pm – 7pm Arabic Improv (adults)

7.30pm – 8.15pm English Improv (adults)

8.30pm – 9.15pm Acting (adults)

Performances:

11am – 12pm Little Dahlings
Improvised play for kids, celebrating the splendiferous world of Roald Dahl

12.15pm – 1.15pm What Comes Next
Interactive improv driven by the kids in the audience

1.30pm – 2.30pm My Kid’s a Superhero
Children in the audience create three Superheroes with special abilities and guide them through adventures

2.45pm – 3.45pm This Is Impro
Family friendly improvisation influenced by audience suggestions

4pm – 6pm Theatresports
Teams of the best improvisers in Al Quoz pit their acting skills against each other to win the coveted Theatresports trophy

6.15pm – 7.15pm Film Noir
Improvised Murder Mystery based on the 1950s’ Film Noir genre

7.30pm – 8.15pm Ahmed
Three Ahmeds take to the stage for bilingual Improv

8.30pm – 11pm Maestro
Improvisers are scored by the audience, with the lowest scores eliminated in each round until only one is left
