CLOSING TODAY Tirdad Hashemi and Soufia Erfanian: I Bloom Where You Hold Me

Collaborative works from Tirdad Hashemi and Soufia Erfanian’s ongoing Flower series, unfolding across gallery walls covered with hand-drawn graffiti; rooted in the artists’ shared and individual experiences, the works consider what it means to care for, sustain and grow alongside one another. For Hashemi and Erfanian, tending to plants, relationships and artistic practice all share a common faith in growth. And even amid destruction, flowers return and spring cannot be stopped:the act of tending becomes a method of resistance.

Primarily oil pastel on paper, the drawings use a rough and immediate visual language. Flowers are built from loose, gestural marks; colours bleed as figurative scenes appear almost like small windows embedded within wild fields. The process is similarly intertwined. Hashemi and Erfanian move freely across the same surface; one may begin a work and the other finish. At other times, their marks overlap as they work simultaneously.
