Ihab Ahmad: I PUT MY BRAIN ON PAUSE!

The new body of work in this solo exhibition marks a turning point in Ihab Ahmad’s practice – “a move toward instinct, spontaneity, and emotional exploration” as the gallery puts it. Smiling faces populate the canvases, each a reflection of the people and encounters that have left a joyful imprint on his life; new materials, oil and spray paint, are applied on linen to create richly layered, expressive surfaces that blur the line between abstraction and figuration, “reflecting a deeper trust in intuition and emotional release”.

Alongside the paintings, Ahmad will be showing a new series of sculptures that echo the playful, totemic language of this visual world.
