The fourth film from veteran actor Vincent Perez is set in 1887 Paris, when illegal duals were common practice. The drama follows the blood feud that slowly develops between fencing master Clément Lacaze (Roschdy Zem), desperate to dissuade his nephew from engaging in an unevenly matched duel, and the young man’s opponent, Colonel Berchère (Perez). But then Marie-Rose Astié de Valsayre (Doria Tillier) enters the scene: a feisty feminist thinker far ahead of her times, she does her darnedest to prove that honour is not exclusively the domain of men …
