Mr Brainwash

A solo show for the French-born LA-based street artist who started filming graffiti art and subsequently became an artist in his own right after an off-hand suggestion from Banksy. As it happens, many of the 10 works on show here are reworkings of Banksy originals (there is a persistant rumour that Mr Brainwash was/is Banksy’s alter ego, or possible vice versa: but Mr Brainwash’s artistic evolution was mapped in Banksy’s 2010 documentary Exit Through The Gift Shop, and Banksy has confirmed that Mr Brainwash is indeed real and a friend). Mr Brainswash has also deployed other iconic images in his paintings, notably from Warhol and Haring. The resulting blend of Pop Art and Street Art he describes as his own form of “graffiti hybrid”.
