Firdaus Orchestra’s Mini Maestros

An introduction to music generally and the orchestra in particular by Expo City Dubai’s all-female Firdaus Orchestra via a concert of classically arranged music for children aged 0 to 6 years old and their parents. The programme includes a range of music, with arrangements of classic children’s songs plus popular Disney numbers; it’s described as “an immersive and educational musical journey” in an “interactive musical environment”.

Monica Woodman, conductor of the Firdaus Orchestra, is quoted as saying: “the significance of classical music in children’s cognitive development cannot be overstated. Classical music ignites creativity and activates areas of the brain not typically stimulated by other music genres … Mini Maestros will offer a truly unique opportunity for children and their parents to interact with live music”.

It sounds great, though the ticket price (AED 495 for one child and one adult) is surely going to restrict its appeal …
