Wolfwalkers: dir Tomm Moore, Ross Stewart (2020)

An excellent Irish animation that combines history and myth in a compelling narrative that explores friendship and difference. A young apprentice hunter journeys to Ireland with her father to wipe out the last wolf pack and befriends Mebh, a free-spirited girl who’s part of a mysterious tribe rumoured to have the ability to transform into wolves by night. As they search for Mebh’s missing mother, Robyn uncovers a secret that draws her further into the enchanted world of the Wolfwakers and risks turning into the very thing her father is tasked to destroy … This is the film is the third and final instalment in co-director Tomm Moore’s Irish Folklore Trilogy, following his previous films The Secret of Kells (2009) and Song of the Sea (2014) – both of which are also recommended.
