The Wanted 18: dir Amer Shomali and Paul Cowan (2014)

As part of its current SILA: All That Is Left To You exhibition, Maraya Art Centre is hosting two film screenings that extend the exhibition’s exploration of Palestinian memory, resistance, and cultural legacy. The Wanted 18 is a film about a Palestinian dairy collective in Beit Sahour that hid a herd of 18 dairy cows from Israeli security forces during the First Intifada when the dairy collective was deemed a threat to Israel’s national security. The film combines animation, interviews, archival footage and re-enactments to tell a story of resistance and survival.

The screening will be preceded by a conversation with co-director Amer Shomali.
