The fifth season of the UAE Classical Talents, a programme of chamber music concerts aimed at promoting local artists, opens with a programme of Vivaldi’s Four Seasons and his ‘La Folia’ (Vivaldi take on the well-known folk tune was written as a theme and 19 variations, instantly recognisable and very listenable). The Four Seasons concerti was originally scored for violin and orchestra, but it’s often arranged for string quartet and this is what we’ll be getting here – the players are the Gulf Strings, led by Klaudia Olborska-Szymanska (violin) with Anna Pavlova (violin), Rebecca Saxby (viola) and Rumania Gavadinova (cello). They will perform the full Four Seasons violin concertos, as well as “La Folia”, an early work of “the Red Priest” as Vivaldi was also nicknamed.
