Somehow Nikolai Gogol’s play never feels outdated: originally published in 1836 and revised in 1842, the play is a comedy of mistaken identity, satirizing human greed, stupidity, and political corruption. It’s also very funny, “proving that bureaucracy and buffoonery are a match made in theatrical heaven” as the producers put it. There are further shows on 28 and 29 June.
