Sustainability in Museums
A day of talks and tours that promises to “delve into the pivotal roles museums, professionals, and artists play in confronting environmental challenges and advancing toward a more sustainable future”.
11am – 12pm The Sustainability Challenge: ‘Make the Intangible Tangible or the Tangible Intangible’
Drawing inspiration from the museum’s collection, message, and core values, a group of students (Kalitham Aljaberi, UAEU; Mariam Al Hosani, ZU; Rhea Braithwate, Chinonyeren Ukaegbu, Ahsen Saaim, all NYUAD) will take part in an hour of creative interventions (details unspecified) and conversation lead by Sarah Louise Nunn, Education Unit Head at Louvre Abu Dhabi, and Arwa al Salami, Louvre Abu Dhabi’s Senior Museum Education Officer. 2-3pm France Muséums Talk 1: How to rewire the arts and culture fields to address climate change: 3 voluntary case studies with positive impacts
Louvre Abu Dhabi and France Muséums have invited a panel of museum and cultural experts to present case studies and discuss the best practices. They will address the environmental impact of museums, suggest how we can support artists’ social consciousness without restricting their creativity, and explore how environmental exhibitions contribute to cultural practices and capacity building.
