ST-Duo
ST-Duo are pianists Sofia Sakhnova and Antonina Luzko, multiple prizewinners in Russia and recipients of a special prize from Yamaha for Best Piano Duet at the 2018 Roma International Piano Competition. They will be playing an entertaining-looking programme, mostly arrangements for two pianos that include classical crowd-pleasers and contemporary compositions; and for some of the pieces they will be accompanied by an Argentinian tango couple (and it’s not just for the Piazzolla).
The programme:
Brahms Hungarian Dances No1, No4, No5
Saint-Saëns Danse Macabre (transcribed for one piano)
Bizet “Habanera” from Carmen (accompanied by tango dancers)
Bizet “Jose” from Carmen
Offenbach “Barcarolle” The Tales of Hoffmann
Offenbach “Galop Infernal” from Orpheus in the Underworld
Gardel “Por una cabeza” (accompanied by tango dancers)
Alexey Shor & Georgs Pelēcis The Correspondence
Alexey Shor Addio (aaccompanied by tango dancers)
Alexey Shor Verdiana
Piazzolla “Adios Nonino” (accompanied by tango dancers)
This is the opening performance in SAMIT Event Group’s 2024 Symphonic Middle East Festival.
