SCHLiNGEL Abu Dhabi: day one

After a successful debut in 2024, SCHLiNGEL returns to Abu Dhabi. It’s an international film festival for children that has been running since 1996 in Chemnitz, Germany, showcasing the most exciting new productions for young people.

Wow! Message from Outer Space dir Felix Binder  (2023)

Eleven-year-old Billie has just moved to a new town with her dad. Her mother, a famous astronaut, died during a space mission. At a junkyard, she meets Dino, a boy her age who loves tinkering with machines. Together, they build a radio telescope – and they pick up signals that could only come from aliens! No one believes them, but Billie and Dino don’t give up. Their search for answers takes them all the way to the spaceport in Kourou, French Guiana – and into an unmanned rocket that launches them into space. The film is an exciting story, but it’s also about friendship, curiosity, and the courage to chase the impossible. Suitable for 7 years up; in German with English subtitles.

Each of the SCHLiNGEL Abu Dhabi sessions is charged at AED 25, but there’s a multi-show pass at AED 75 to cover any or all of the films.
