UAENO Season One Finale: Rhythm Without Borders

The UAE National Orchestra has selected a terrific-looking programme for its Season One Finale under the baton of Ahmed Farag – colour, rhythm, and energy, “a vibrant celebration of diversity through music” as the blurb puts it – that includes exciting contributions from the Western canon alongside compositions from oud master (and director of the Emirates Musical Ensemble) Abdulaziz Almadani – The Fiftieth Samaei, a piece that reimagines the historic samai form through a contemporary lens – and Qoutayba Neaimi’s specially commissioned orchestral suite celebrating the UAE’s musical heritage through arrangements of familiar songs by Emirati composers.
