Rabbit Hole
It looks as though the Junction has found another small gem – David Lindsay-Abaire’s play, winner of the 2007 Pulitzer Prize for Drama, is a deeply moving yet surprisingly funny story about a family navigating love, loss, and the search for hope. Becca and Howie have a picture-perfect family life in the suburbs of New York until a random accident takes the life of their four-year-old son. As Becca and Howie grow apart under the strain of grief: Becca’s mother badgers her about her grieving process; Becca’s younger sister Izzy announces that she is pregnant, so there will now be a new child in the family; and Jason, the young driver who killed their son, continually shows up to ask forgiveness.
But Rabbit Hole is not just about grief—it’s about the strength of family, the healing power of compassion, and the possibility of finding light in unexpected places.
Directed by Arjam Burman for the Junction’s resident company H72 Productions. There are further shows on 7 and 8 February.
