Naïssam Jalal and Hazem Shaheen

A concert with flautist Naïssam Jalal and oudist Hazem Shaheen that brings together modern jazz and the classical Arabic tradition of improvised taqsim. Jalal has a storied career in collaborations across a variety of musical styles, primarily in contemporary jazz but also with rap and recently in Indian music too; Shaheen is a noted Egyptian oud player, singer, and composer. The pair released their album Liqaa in 2018, and their synergy suggests we will be in for an intimate and reflective evening of musical virtuosity.
