Jewellery is usually treated as a style of female adornment, but these days especially it’s also an important signifier for men – at once a social and cultural marker, an instrument of power assertion, a communication tool, and yes a fashion accessory too. This conversation with art historians Dr David Usieto Cabrera and May El Hage, both lecturers at L’ÉCOLE Middle East School of Jewelry Arts, discusses the symbolic and ornamental functions of men’s jewellery.
