This series of images of the UAE, started when Mathilde Magnier Rabate moved to the Emirates in 2014, attempts to document the impact of the country’s rapid transformation on the Emirati traditional landscape and ecosystems. In a part of the world where nature long remained untouched, the photographer’s aim is to question how such changes may transform the local environment as well as the relationship between people and their natural habitat.
Mathilde Magnier Rabate was featured at this year’s RAK Fine Arts Festival. We were also impressed with a thoughtful and sharply-realised essay on change shown at Alliance Française Dubai a year ago. This one should be as good.
To 13 November.
