421’s Winter season of talks and panel discussions developed in collaboration with afikra, Localized Futures, explores the future of key cultural and civic sectors through a regional lens – challenging the dominant global narrative by looking at the complexities, innovations, and solutions inherent to the MENA region. This session, the second of four, considers how regional educational institutions can move beyond traditional models of education to build learning ecosystems that are locally relevant, globally competitive, and capable of fostering critical thinking and creative citizenship.

The panel:

Prof Awam Amkpa Vice Provost for the Arts and Dean of Arts and Humanities at NYUAD
Dr Hanada Taha Thomure Professor of Arabic Language at NYUAD and Director of the Zai Arabic Research Center
Prof Kevin Mitchell Trustees Professor and Professor of Architecture at NYUAD

Moderator: Aaron Fallon Director of Ghadan Lab at the Salama bint Hamdan al Nahyan Foundation

The upcoming Localized Futures topics are Cities & Communities (2 Apr) and Arts (9 Apr).
