Les Petits Chanteurs à la Croix de Bois: Concert for Peace

The famous French a cappella boys’ choir – made up of boys between 9 and 15 years old, and for some reason styled in English as The Little Singers of Paris – is coming to the Sorbonne for a free concert. We have no idea about specifics of the programme, though it apparently features songs in French, Arabic and English “to spread a message of tolerance”. And the choir’s broad repertoire does include Darius Milhaud’s ‘Cantata of Peace’ which he wrote for the Little Singers in 1937. (Milhaud, at the time probably France’s premier composer, called the school “a miracle of faith, tenacity, enthusiasm and talent”).
