Learning from Al Manama Design with Ahmed Bin Shabib

Al Manama – “a place to rest and sleep” – is a temporary summer Pavilion built during the hottest period across the Gulf, a native form of architecture that uses sustainable construction to keep the temperature cool. Emirati architects and urbanists Ahmed and Rashid Bin Shabib have revived the Manama for Ramadan by recreating three of them under the dome of Louvre Abu Dhabi: a majlis, a library and a film screening space. They will be open 4-23 April; access is free with a museum admission ticket (AED 60).
