Joana Hadjithomas and Khalil Joreige: The Vertiginous Story of Orthosia
10 November 2024 @ 7.00 pm — 8.00 pm
Free, but pre-registerA second performance for Joana Hadjithomas and Khalil Joreige’s speculative performance about the lost Roman city of Orthosia. buried beneath the Nahr al Bared refugee camp in north Lebanon. The ruins of the ancient city of Orthosia, lost since being hit by a tsunami in 551 CE, are a major find; but a proper archaeological investigation would necessitate yet another displacement for the families living there – a process that would be socially, politically and humanly untenable. Performed by Ahmed Abu Arada and Miryana Milad Almaalouly as part of Sharjah Art Foundation’s Perform Sharjah programme, The Vertiginous Story of Orthosia is presented in English with Arabic subtitles.
