Inherit the Wind: dir Stanley Kramer (1960)

Stanley Kramer wasn’t afraid to confront social issues considered too controversial for the major studios. In Inherit the Wind he tackled the creationism v evolution debate. Acting legends Spencer Tracy and Fredric March go toe-to-toe in a titanic courtroom battle, the sensational trial of a young teacher in a small Tennessee town who is prosecuted for teaching Charles Darwin’s theory of evolution in a high school science class. Deservedly nominated for four Academy Awards, Inherit the Wind is recognised as one of the most entertaining, powerful and provocative films of its era. Highly recommended.
