Global Notes: Linus Roth & Boris Kusnezow

This is the gala opening performance for the Global Notes Series from Dubai Opera in collaboration with Encore Performing Arts. Global Notes is a new recital/concert programme “dedicated to celebrating the vibrant tapestry of cultural diversity and supporting young musicians from around the world”; we think in essence this means an opportunity to hear some excellent musicians in a relatively intimate setting, though the phrase “gala opening” suggests it won’t be exactly informal … The ticket price includes a drink, incidentally.

Linus Roth, who plays the 1703 Dancla Stradivarius on loan from Landesbank Baden-Württemberg, is noted for his stylistic knowledge (as well as his performances as a soloist and chamber musician he is also an academic teacher of music and has been artistic director of music festivals) and his charismatic personality. For Linus’s Dubai debut we’re promised a programme of pieces from Brahms to Bartók that highlight his virtuosity and dynamic musicality.

Accompanying him is one of the most sought-after collaborative pianists of his generation., Boris Kusnezow.
