Game. Set. Match.

The Playhouse Studio Theatre at New Covent Garden (located in a much-revamped Mall of the Emirates space that now includes a fully-equipped 575-seater theatre plus dance and rehearsal studios and a new restaurant) opens with this new Tall Tales / Cross Bronx Studio production..

It has been adapted from the 2016 Italian film Perfect Strangers, itself a critical and commercial success that has resonated with audiences around the world and generated a number of remakes and reworkings; for this production, writer Sid Abbas has switched the locale to Dubai’s tennis scene. Set in a luxury tennis club suite, the play follows seven long-time friends reunited for a destination wedding; but a seemingly innocent game of sharing phone messages and calls turns into digital Russian roulette. Secrets, affairs, emotional confessions, and some truly terrible texting etiquette emerge … We’re promised fast-paced dialogue, laugh-out-loud moments, and gut-punch emotional turns: “if you’ve ever been in a relationship, had a group chat, or made a mistake you hoped your partner would never see — this play is for you”.
