Focal Point 2024

The seventh edition of Sharjah Art Foundation’s Focal Point art book fair – the region’s only art book fair, we think – features local and international publishers with book launches, talks, workshops and musical performances during its run (22 to 24 November at Bait Obaid Al Shamsi, 10am to 4pm each day).

Featuring artists’ presses, bookmakers, self-publishers and non-commercial cultural producers, this year’s edition encourages the community to engage with independent publishing and the central role of books as tools for social mobilisation and the development of a free and just world.  This year, Sharjah Art Foundation has invited several community leaders, artists, graphic designers and independent practitioners to present a selection of publications from their respective cultural ecosystems at Focal Point; the fair will also include workshops on sketching, writing and zine-making, in addition to conversations, readings, presentations and meet-and-greet sessions.
