Every Brilliant Thing

The acclaimed Egyptian theatre-maker Ahmed El Attar adapts and directs an Arabic version of Duncan Macmillan’s powerful, poignant play – an hour of life and humour about mental health. As her mother battles chronic depression, the child creates a list of every thing they can think of that makes life worth living; as the child grows, so does the list.
The play features Syrian actress Nanda Mohammad, alone on an empty stage with only a minimal set, accessories, and music. She has the challenging task of balancing the storyline with the energies of the audience, who are invited to participate and even improvise during the show.
The play is performed in Arabic with simultaneous English translation. There are further performances on 2 and 3 May.
