Every Brilliant Thing

As his mother battles chronic depression, a child creates a list of every thing they can think of that makes life worth living. As the child grows, so does the list. Looking back on a life of ups and downs, the man takes the audience on an inspiring journey that celebrates finding joy in the mundane and being grateful for the simple pleasures hiding all around us.

Adapted and directed by Ahmed El Attar, this Arabic version of a touching, funny, and uplifting English-language play (the original is by the English playwright/director Duncan Macmillan) was a big hit in the first edition of Perform Sharjah. For the current edition of Sharjah Art Foundation’s performance programme, it has two performances (on 24 and 25 October).
