The richly-layered narrative centres on the elderly caretaker of an abandoned Cairo villa known as 19B. The owners have been absent for so long that no one even knows how to contact them, and the building is falling apart. Still, the caretaker is happy with his life … but then things change when the old man is threatened by an aggressive ex-con, the leader of a street gang. It’s a situation that will mark a turning point in his life. Arabic with English subtitles.

A tale of gentrification and community displacement in Cambodia, a fictional story about the real-life White Building, an iconic modernist apartment block in the centre of Phnom Penh which was demolished in 2017. The film’s director, Kavich Neang, grew up in the White Building; in his film the White Building itself, The White Building is crumbling and not fit for habitation, but it’s still home to a vibrant diverse community getting along happily. The story is about 20-year-old Samnang and two of his friends who live there and the way the stable environment they have always called home is to be pulled down … Khmer with English subtitles.
