Beethoven’s The Fifths

A proper full-scale orchestral concert evening, even if the combination of Beethoven’s Fifth Symphony and his Piano Concerto No.5 (“Emperor”) feels as though it might be driven more by marketing than a natural musical combination. Still, there are no complaints over the orchestra – the Hungarian State Opera Orchestra under the baton of István Dénes – or the soloist for the piano concerto, Leeds International Piano Competition winner Anna Tsybuleva (above). Should be a good evening.
