Arts Chat: Building a Life as a Musician

The latest in an excellent ongoing series on artistic practice, sustainability, and the practicalities of a creative life. Drawing from the panellist’s individual experiences, the discussion will explore collaboration, visibility, creative development, navigating local and international scenes, and the opportunities and challenges artists currently face while working in the country. On the panel are three musicians who feature in upcoming Arts Center shows:

Fatima, a singer-songwriter whose storytelling performances blend R&B and soul with Arabian jazz.
MINOVA, indie electronic producer and singer. She performs at the Arts Center in a double bill with Fatima on 13 June.
Yahael Camara Onono – percussionist, composer, musical director, educator, and cultural producer, founder and bandleader of the award-winning Balimaya Project: his show is on 11 June.
