A Tale of Two Sisters: dir Kim Jee-woon (2003)

After a stint in a mental hospital, Korean teen Su-mi reunites with her beloved sister Su-yeon and they return to live at their family home. The girls’ father has remarried, and the siblings are immediately resentful of his new wife. As the sisters try to resume their regular lives, strange events plague the house, leading to surprising revelations and a shocking conclusion … This beautifully shot psychological horror movie has a stunning soundtrack by Lee Byung-woo.

This film screens as part of the ninth edition of the Korean Film Festival, presented by the Embassy of the Republic of Korea and the Korean Cultural Center. This year’s festival has the theme ‘Music’ and showcases a selection of Korean films that highlight the power of music in storytelling.
