Willy Wonka & The Chocolate Factory: dir Mel Stuart (1971)

A beautiful restoration of this family classic for its 55th anniversary, based on the Roald Dahl book and staring Gene Wilder having a lot of fun with his role as the magical maker of scrumptious sweets. Charlie Bucket (Peter Ostrum), a lad with no money and a good heart, wins one of five coveted Golden Tickets to visit Wonka’s mysterious chocolate factory with the chance to win a lifetime supply of chocolate. Coated with flavourful tunes and constantly dazzling production design, this effervescent musical is a real treat.
