Stitching Palestine: dir Carol Mansour (2017)

As part of its current SILA: All That Is Left To You exhibition, Maraya Art Centre is hosting two film screenings that extend the exhibition’s exploration of Palestinian memory, resistance, and cultural legacy. Carol Mansour’s documentary features 12 Palestinian women living in Lebanon, Jordan and Palestine, who draw upon the ancient and enduring art of Palestinian embroidery to share stories about their identities, tales of resistance and memories of their homeland. As lawyers, artists, housewives, activists, architects and politicians, each recounts a distinctly personal story; through the course of the film a collective embroidery begins to take shape, linking one woman to another.
