Dara Ó Briain: So … Where Were We?

The generally excellent comedian (and writer, amateur astronomer, astrophotographer) is back on tour, and this gig falls right in the middle of another massive stint on the road. Apparently though he likes touring, and he enjoys appearing in front of a new crowd every couple of days; certainly his last tour (180 shows!) never showed any signs of flagging.
He’s known for hosting TV shows like Mock The Week (for 17 years!) but he’s also good on quirky travel (Three Men in a Boat, Dara and Ed’s Great Big Adventure) and is brilliant at the accessible-science stuff (Dara Ó Briain ‘s Science Club, Stargazing Live, Dara Ó Briain Meets Stephen Hawking – yes, really). But he also delivers a good fast-paced standup show, full of sharp wit, acute observation, and a mix of stories and one-liners, characteristically tripping over his words by talking too quickly “because he’s so giddy to be back in front of a crowd”. If you’re lucky there may be a bit of politics on the side (but never too much).
“One of the most dependably entertaining stand-up comics in the land” said The Times; “O Briain has a laser eye for the absurd and the spurious” said The Guardian. This show, part of the Dubai Comedy Festival, is highly recommended.
