UAE Classical Talents: A Night With Rachmaninov & Friends

Alliance Française’s series of chamber recitals by locally based musicians continues with pianist (and recently named Steinway Artist) Ioannis Potamousis in a programme that celebrates the 150th anniversary of Sergey Rachmaninov. Ioannis will play Rachmaninov’s Concerto for Piano and Orchestra No.2 in an arrangement by Jeremy Liu that replaces the full orchestra by a string quintet; he recently told us that this “allows for a more intimate, chamber music-style performance of this beautiful concerto in smaller venues”. The string players will open the evening too, with “works related to Rachmaninov and his time”.
