Diego Ramón Jiménez Salazar, known as El Cigala (Castillan for ‘langoustine’), is regarded as one of the top cantaores (singers of flamenco) in Spain. Brought up in the middle of Madriad’s flamenco centre, he started his career singing in the market as a child; he soon became in great demand as an accompanist to noted flamenco dancers and guitarists, and eventually broke out of the specialised world of flamenco to reach international stardom. We’re promised “unique sensations from the charm of flamenco and Latin melodies” and “a cultural and artistic journey within a Spanish atmosphere”. Should be good.
