It’s a kind of open mic for any kind of performance: you can pitch for a slot for whatever it is you want to do (anything goes\, apparently) – book here – but spontaneous performances are also welcome on the day (“we will have open floor time built in\, and try and get as many performances in as we can”). And you can also attend as an opinionated audience member; performance is not mandatory … \nRegistration is required\, either way. Presentation slots are limited and will be on a first-come first-served basis “to ensure a variety of disciplines and mediums are showcased — so the more specific you are about what you’re bringing\, the better”.

As Becca and Howie grow apart under the strain of grief: Becca’s mother badgers her about her grieving process; Becca’s younger sister Izzy announces that she is pregnant\, so there will now be a new child in the family; and Jason\, the young driver who killed their son\, continually shows up to ask forgiveness. \nBut Rabbit Hole is not just about grief—it’s about the strength of family\, the healing power of compassion\, and the possibility of finding light in unexpected places. \nDirected by Arjam Burman for the Junction’s resident company H72 Productions. DESCRIPTION:What exactly is ‘art’? Yasmina Reza’s cult comedy classic uses that as the starting point for a caustic examination of the potentially fragile architecture of friendship. One of the three friends has just bought a very expensive painting – it’s all white. To another friend the painting is a joke\, but do they have the right standards to judge it? The third friend doesn’t really have much of an opinion but get pulled into the disagreement. They square off over the canvas\, using it as an excuse to relentlessly batter one another over various failures … \nSpoiler alert: it’s not really about art per se – the white painting is just the catalyst\, but it does play a significant part in the denouement … \nJihane Tehini and Francesca Bizzarri direct. The original had three men as the friends\, but gender isn’t especially relevant to the script and they have cast three women – Leila Oggar\, Arezoo Sharifi and Jihane Tehini herself. \nLast November\, Complices had a sell-out run at the Junction for an excellent production of Neil Simon’s Rumors (which takes a similarly comic look at human relationships albeit from a rather different angle). On that basis alone we’d vote for this production\, but in any case Reza’s play is cleverly paced\, thoughtful\, heartfelt and ultimately generous.
