Three good young Italian bands will be on the bill: \nGuglielmo Santimone Trio (Guglielmo Santimone on piano – that’s him above\, Stefano Zambon on double bass\, Simone Brilli on drums): post-bop contemporary jazz with a nod to Brazil. \n4Tet (Lorenzo Simoni sax\, Guglielmo Santimone piano\, Giulio Scianatico double bass\, Simone Brilli drums): Santimone and Brill join Simoni’s quartet for a kind of Italian jazz supergroup. \nVittorio Gravagna Rosmarino Trio (Vittorio Gravagna guitar\, Stefano Zambon double bass\, Giovanni Nardiello drums): tipped for big things — minimalist jazz rock with a Mediterranean feel.

DESCRIPTION:The Fridge gig series continues with the Dubai-based Filipino dream/synth-pop band WYWY (X Alvarez on vocals and xylophone\, Mckie on guitar and bass). They’ve been around for a while\, not least at previous Fridge Concerts; but their rather good debut album Whispers of Existence dropped earlier this year\, ten tracks of brooding\, haunting melancholy delivered via swelling guitars\, drums\, synths and soaring vocals – a bit like Cocteau Twins\, and none the worse for that. Support comes from the very cool Serge Volant\, a DJ / mixer / synthmeister who comes from Beirut’s dynamic electronic scene. Should be a good night.
