SUMMARY:Thinking through Space: Curatorial Methods and Tools [day one]
DESCRIPTION:Now this looks interesting: a two-day workshop (23-24 August) that offers a practical and reflective entry point into contemporary curatorial practice\, showing how an initial idea can evolve into a coherent\, site-responsive exhibition. Through a series of guided exercises\, attendees will learn how to map out a topic\, trace thematic threads\, draw connections between artworks\, and shape clear\, compelling curatorial concepts that respond to audience and context. There’s a physical element too; ideas can be translated into engaging exhibition designs by working with the architecture of the space as well as elements such as light\, sound and texture. \nIt looks ideal for aspiring curators but would also be useful for emerging artists. The workshop is led by Sharjah-based curator May Alqaydi\, whose curatorial practice “is shaped by a sensitivity to material\, place and narrative form\, focusing particularly on experimental exhibition formats and spatial storytelling that move between the visible and the concealed …” \nAll materials will be provided It’s free\, but spaces are obviously limited and pre-registration is essential.
