DESCRIPTION:An Egyptian space travel adventure-comedy\, complete with dance numbers\, drinking games\, and a cardboard robot called Otto. In Cairo\, eccentric German scientist Mr Sharfin is about to launch the first rocket to the moon. Astronomer Ahmed Rushdy is on site interviewing Sharfin\, when the local newspaper’s driver Ismail sneaks on board to snap some pictures in secret. Sharfin discovers him\, there’s a scuffle\, and of course the rocket is accidentally launched. DESCRIPTION:This Soviet-era silent film was one of the earliest to represent a realistic spaceflight\, including weightlessness. It’s pitched in the year 1946\, with Professor Sedikh\, who is planning to lead the first crewed exploration to the Moon\, denounced by a rival as being too old and too mentally unstable for the mission. Aided by his assistants Marina and Andryusha\, Sedikh makes the journey anyway – with a successful landing\, a few adventures on the Moon\, and a triumphant return to Moscow. Is he as scary as they fear?
