SUMMARY:NVIDIA Studio Nights 6
DESCRIPTION:This free-to-attend event for the UAE’s creative community – including “leading creators\, designers\, press\, influencers\, and key industry partners” – is NVIDIA’s sixth such gathering; previous venues were in KSA\, Egypt\, Turkey\, and Abu Dhabi (back in February 2024). The aim is to showcase work\, connect with industry peers\, discover new opportunities\, and explore the future of digital artistry as facilitated (of course) by the NVIDIA Studio platform. Plus perhaps a bit of demonstrating and promoting for NVIDIA Studio. \nYou also get the chance to see the entries for the Creative Challenge\, which indeed you may want to enter – there are categories for 3D/CGI\, interior design\, short films\, photography\, and digital fashion. Entrants have to be using an NVDIA product and must submit work that reflects the event’s theme\, which is just ‘Museum of the Future\, Dubai’. There will be “exciting” prizes and trophies\, plus recognition on NVIDIA’s social channels; the deadline for entries is 25 January. More details and the entry form are here. \nYou can register here to attend as a non-participating guest (limited slots available\, and it looks as though you have to be approved too: the application form includes questions like ‘How will this event benefit your career’ which will presumably be the dealbreaker).

SUMMARY:Future Experts: AI in arts and culture
DESCRIPTION:Some of the sessions in the Museum of the Future’s Future Experts talks series have been a tad over-technical\, but this one should hit the mark. Apparently it’s designed “to ignite intellectual discussions and foster collaborative exploration at the intersection of academia and artificial intelligence” by providing “a unique platform for academia to come together\, exchange ideas\, and share cutting-edge research on AI’s pivotal role in design and various other domains”. \nIn fact the speakers all look well qualified to deliver ideas and insights\, albeit in bite-sized chunks – they only get ten minutes apiece\, with a wrap-up Q&A to round out the hour. On the panel: \n→ Isaac Sullivan ZU CACE – writer and artists as well as Assistant Professor of Visual Arts with research interests including AI\, sound art\, and “the problematics of space and place \n→ Peter Chanthanakone ZU CACE – an award-winning director and producer specialising in 3D animated shorts\, director of a Bangkok animation studio\, and in-demand speaker at events like Siggraph Asia and several of the International Symposium of Electronic Arts dates \n→ Sara Niroobakhsh NYUAD – Iranian-born Canadian-based artist\, currently a visiting assistant art professor in the Interactive Media program at NYUAD\, who has spent the last decade experimenting with a variety of multimedia projects involving living tissue\, chemistry\, virtual reality\, and performance \n→ Dr Noor Yusoff University of Wollongong – an artist and educator (and an Assistant Professor for Media & Communication) whose research interests include the practice-based approach to understand intellectual identity\, social semiotics and visual cultures \n

Presented by Museum of the Future as a contribution to Dubai Culture’s ongoing Calligraphy Biennale. \nIt’s free\, but in the Museum’s Auditorium; we think this means you’ll have to pay for general admission (AED 149).
